Jeep Wrangler Towing

Jeep Wrangler Towing

If you go wheeling often, you'll probably get stuck, and you'll need someone to pull you out of wherever you're stuck in. You'll need a tow strap, preferably made of heavy-duty nylon and at least have a rating of 20,000 pounds. Chains are not a good idea, this is because they could snap and become ballisitcs when they break. Along with that, you'll need to mount tow hooks to the frame. The front bumper has two places to attach tow hooks below either end of the grille, you'll need to use a Torx T-55 bit to remove the factory bolts, and you should use grade 5 bolts to mount the new tow hooks. Grade 5 bolts have three lines on the top, while grade 8 bolts, which has higher quality, have six lines on the top. Its also a good idea to mount tow hooks on the rear of your Jeep Wrangler. This gets complicated because theres no holes in the rear and you have to drill your own. The Jeep Wrangler has a towing capacity of 2000 lbs. Even though they have the same engine as the Cherokee wqhich has a towing capacity of 5000 lbs, this doesn?t depend on the engine. The towing capacity is based on its wheelbase. The shorter the wheel base the lesser weight in can tow.
